Application Form+ Lettera di presentazione alla Host Family

Tutti almeno una volta nella vita di aspiranti exchange students abbiamo sentito parlare dell'Application Form, e se ne abbiamo sentito parlare sappiamo quanto temuta essa sia.

Quella per gli Stati Uniti, l'unico ambito che mi compete ^^, era di 27 pagine.

Riepilogherò qui le parti che la compongono.

- Informazioni Generali (nome, cognome, indirizzo... easy)

- Sport e materie preferite (PANICO per me, che faccio danza classica e diceva di scrivere 5 sport che ci piacciono... ho scelto cheerleading.)

- Otto domande molto personali (aspettative, rapporto coi genitori, career goals, faccende domestiche...)

- Lettera di presentazione alla Host Family.

Tengo molto a questa parte, in primis perché è una delle più complesse da compliare, e in più perché è una delle carte fondamentali con cui ci si candida in America. La mia è piuttosto personale e breve (mi avevano dato il massimo di 250 parole), ve la allegherò in seguito, confidando che nessuno abbia la "geniale" idea di copiarla. Sappiate che non potrete mai farlo con la master studio, visto che probabilmente se la ricorderebbero (?) , ma comunque se copiaste questa lettera penso proprio che incontrereste difficoltà, visto che parla di me e non di voi, e la famiglia deve scegliervi per come siete. Ecco qui la mia lettera. (vi ricordo che in alto potete mandarmi delle email a cui risponderò volentieri a eventuali domande. Dear Host Family,

I'd like to begin by thanking you for this incredible opportunity.

My name tells a lot of things about me. "Alice" is the name of the protagonist of "Alice in Wonderland" , one of the most famous characther due to her curiosity. She followed the white rabbit just because she was curious and then she was in wonderland. I probably would have followed the white rabbit, and maybe my wonderland will be USA. Movies, music and books have always given me a wonderful view of this part of the world and I can't believe I'm pretty close to reach it. My dream is going to become true. I attend a classic high school, wich means that I study Latin and Greek. I spend a lot of time studying to keep my avarage high and to achieve my goals, I'm very ambitious and I want to become a surgeon or a judge, I'm not sure yet. I really like scientific subjects, but I love English too . I'd likr to learn a new languange, such as spanish.

My friends are a very important piece of my life and daily routine, I love staying with them whenever I can and having a lot of fun with them. I hope that in USA I will have a lot of friends too.One of my dream since I was a kid is to join the cheerleader, because in Italy we don't have it.

I want to be a part of your family, of your town, of my high school. I believe what Americans believe in, meritocracy and patriotism. I want to know a lot of American people and become more self confident. I live in a small family: my mother is an educator, my father is a buisness consultant and my sister studies Italian Litterature at University. We are a very close family.

I have always travelled since I was a kid and I love doing it. , I love the sea, art, mountains and I like Italy. I also like cooking, I will try to cook Italian dishes for you , so you'll be able to have a piece of my world in yours, if you want to. I haven't got any pets, I'd like to have a cat or a small dog, I'm a little bit afraid of big dogs but I can overcome this fear. I don't like reptiles.

I'm not a huge fan of sports in general, but I love watching it and I love taking long walks and going on bike rides with my friends.

I love making my parents and my grandparents proud of me, and I hope to do the same with you.

I'm catholic and I go to the church every sunday and I take part in a group made of teenagers in my town, but I'm very open-minded and I wouldn't mind if I took part in different religion.

This will be a life changing experience for me, I can't explain how much it would mean to me to be accepted by you . I thank you for hosting me. I look forward to speaking to you soon.

- una serie immensa di fogli da firmare sul regolamento e via dicendo. Sicuramente lo staff della vostra associazione vi toglierà ogni dubbio molto meglio di me, ci tenevo solamente a condividere la mia lettera alla host family perché ne sono incredibilmente fiera e so come ci si sente a fissare una pagina word aspettando l'ispirazione per la lettera senza sapere a chi chiedere.
